The concept would continue into space travel, when, in 2151, Enterprise NX-01 had to circumnavigate a plasma storm. (ENT: "Cold Front")
in mid-2373, the USS Valiant was on a three month training cruise which involved them circumnavigating the Federation before returning home. However, the mission was not completed due to the outbreak of the Dominion War. (DS9: "Valiant")
