Clare McConnell (born 21 June 1994; age 30) is a Canadian actress and comedian who played Dennas in the Star Trek: Discovery first season episodes "Battle at the Binary Stars", "Lethe", and "Will You Take My Hand?".
The costume she wore was sold off on the Prop Store Star Trek: Discovery online auction in September 2021. [1]
Born in Calgary, Alberta to Irish parents, she currently resides in Toronto, where she attended Ryerson Theatre School. She regularly performs with the Second City Touring Company, and has also performed with the science fiction comedy troupe Yes, Android and Star Trek parody improv group Holodeck Follies. [2] [3]
Prior to Star Trek, she appeared in the 2016 short film This Is What It Sounds Like Falling Out of Love with You and in Dim the Fluorescents in 2017.
She made guest appearances on television series such as Wynonna Earp (starring Melanie Scrofano, with Katherine Barrell), Coroner (starring Roger Cross, with Saad Siddiqui, Grace Lynn Kung, Ellora Patnaik, and Samora Smallwood), American Gods (starring Yetide Badaki, developed by Bryan Fuller), Killjoys (with Rachael Ancheril, Milton Barnes, and Jordana Blake), Nurses (with Raven Dauda, Jordana Blake, and Krista Jang), and Hudson & Rex.
Since 2018, she has been playing the recurring character "Effie Crabtree (née Newsome)" on Murdoch Mysteries, which has also guest-starred Rong Fu and William Shatner.
