The Cosmic Duchess was an interstellar cruise ship in operation during the late 24th century.
The size of a small moon, the vessel offered numerous amenities such as buffets, casinos (including one with Dixon Hill slot machines), 240 24-hour spas, an indoor water park, an underwater dry park, and a mountain with ski slopes. The interior was illuminated by artificial sunlight that could automatically detect when a guest was sufficiently tanned. Latinum Elite Guests of the resort were informed by the front desk of any Starfleet teams arriving to capture them.
In 2382, the Cosmic Duchess was plagued by what appeared to be a rogue nanite cluster. The USS Cerritos was assigned to capture it; an away team attempted to lure the cluster, named "Glumpus" by Lieutenant jg Sam Rutherford, into a trap with an energy cell. However, they inadvertently caused it to rampage and grow to a massive size. The nanites were ultimately neutralized when the team detected and disrupted its control signal with vibe tubes. The source of the signal was found to be the USS Endeavour, a microscopic Federation starship from a parallel universe.
Meanwhile, Commander Jack Ransom and Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups, along with Lieutenant jg Brad Boimler, embarked on an undercover mission to locate the AWOL Admiral Milius. They were captured by Milius's acolytes and taken to AWOL Falls, but they abandoned him after he became too aggravated for their liking. Milius then agreed to return to duty and assist in returning the Endeavour to its original universe. (LD: "The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel")
