Holographic representation of Cygnus as seen from Mars
Cygnus (Latin for swan) was a constellation visible from Earth's northern hemisphere. The brightest star in this constellation was Deneb (Alpha Cygni); the nearest star to Sol in this constellation was 61 Cygni. Astronomical objects in this constellation were located in the Alpha Quadrant. (TAS: "Mudd's Passion")
While on a date, on a holographic re-creation of Mars, with Danara Pel, The Doctor pointed out the constellation Cygnus as among the many star formations and astronomical highlights seen from Mars. (VOY: "Lifesigns")

Background information[]
The name of this constellation was derived from Iota Omega Cygni's Bayer designation. In Bayer designation, the name begins with a Greek letter followed by a genitive of the constellation's name.
In the things that were deleted, there were a small number of related locations. An Omega Cygni system was mentioned in the final draft script of "The Time Trap", and a graphic created for Star Trek Beyond mentioned a Cygnus system containing Cygnus II and Cygnus VII, but it has not been determined if this graphic was seen on screen.
The constellation contained as well,
- the trinary HD 188753 system,
- the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant,
- the radio galaxy Cygnus A,
- the X-ray galactic source Cygnus X-1, which could be a black hole, and
- the asterism Northern Cross.
