Corporal D. Chang was a Human male who served as a Military Assault Command Operations soldier during the mid-22nd century. In 2153, Chang was assigned to the MACO detachment aboard Enterprise NX-01 for a mission into the Delphic Expanse.

In the final draft script of "The Xindi", Chang (and three MACO men with him) was described as "accustomed to a more formal, chivalrous atmosphere" than that aboard Enterprise, prior to joining the ship.

Six weeks into Enterprise's mission, Chang participated in the rescue of Captain Archer, Commander Tucker, and the Xindi Kessick from a trellium mining colony. Soon afterward, Chang accompanied Tucker and Private Palmer on an away mission to the Loque'eque homeworld to rescue Captain Archer, Lieutenant Reed, and Ensign Sato, who had been transformed into Loque'eque themselves as a result of exposure to a mutagenic virus. (ENT: "The Xindi", "Extinction")

The next year, along with Corporal Ryan, Chang was assigned to guard a Xindi-Insectoid hatchery by Captain Archer, whose synaptic pathways had been infiltrated by a unique neurotransmitter. Later, Chang stood guard outside the quarters of T'Pol, who had been confined there by Archer. Attempting to bypass Chang, Commander Tucker managed to gain access to her quarters by telling Chang that Doctor Phlox had ordered him to resume Vulcan neuro-pressure with T'Pol. Later, while attempting to take control of the ship from the MACOs, who had been placed in command by Archer, Tucker attempted to use the same excuse to get back into T'Pol's quarters, but was denied access by Chang, forcing Lieutenant Reed and Doctor Phlox to incapacitate him. (ENT: "Hatchery")
