Star Trek: Discovery – The Final Season is a DVD release, featuring the complete fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery in standard resolution. The set debuted in the UK and several EU countries on 19 August 2024, followed a week later by its North American release. The release came packaged as the standard four/five-disc holding plastic snap-case in a cardboard slip-over sleeve.

Even though the region-restriction is still upheld in full for the DVD home video format, contrary to its Blu-ray counterparts, contents are unified for all regions for cost efficiency reasons.

Disc contents[]

Note: contents organization as employed for the North American Region 1 release. Region 2 releases have their contents spread over five discs as specified to the bottom right.

Background information[]

  • As with the previous four releases, this release features the same amount of special features as its DVD counterpart, constituting something of a break in release policies as the Star Trek franchise had until 2017 favored the Blu-ray format with the inclusion of more special features. Quite conceivably this had been an intentional franchise attempt to avoid the 2014 "second VAM controversy" that had followed in the wake of the home video format releases of the first two alternate reality films.
  • Though it had its own Blu-ray counterparts released as well, Spain became one of the Region 2 territories who opted to forego on the DVD iteration, trusting they could rely on imports from other Region 2 territories, the UK in particular, just like other Region 2 countries who had not even bothered to contemplate their own Blu-ray/DVD version releases (such as Italy) had to. This is indicative of the fast dwindling relevance of the DVD home video format in the current society.
