Captain Danby Connor was a male Terran Imperial Starfleet officer in the mid-23rd century. During his career, he won medals for being a master of poisons and for fifty kills.
In the 2250s, Connor served aboard the ISS Shenzhou under Michael Burnham. After Burnham went missing and was presumed dead during a mission, Connor struggled with others to succeed her and finally assumed command of the Shenzhou.
Despite coming on top in the power struggle for the captain chair, Connor felt that he never really manage to establish his authority among his officers and that they never shown him the same respect they gave Burnham.
Connor was subsequently killed by Starfleet specialist Michael Burnham, disguised as her counterpart, after he attempted to kill her in a turbolift when she had seemingly returned to the Shenzhou after faking her death. (DIS: "Despite Yourself")
Background information[]
Connor, like his prime timeline counterpart, was portrayed by Sam Vartholomeos. When he took the part, he was unaware that he would be required to play a mirror-universe version of Connor who was a captain, as he had established the character as an ensign in the prime universe. "Well, I got to Toronto, and I had no idea I was Captain Connor," he recalled. "I walked into the wardrobe and Gersha Phillips was walking [with] me and I see black everywhere. I'm like, 'Are they mourning Connor, still?' because I was. So, she was like, 'No, no. This is the mirror universe. You guys are badasses.' I'm like, 'Okay, that's cool.' And she says, 'Yeah, you're a captain.' I was like, 'Uh… that's pretty cool.' And I see my trailer – Captain Connor – I took a picture of that." Vartholomeos adapted Ensign Connor's streak of ambitiousness. "I took that and made it nefarious, and took the Terran way of, you know, kill or be killed and… became captain," the actor concluded.
