In 2268, the crew of the USS Enterprise discovered the ten thousand-year-old Fabrini asteroid vessel, the Yonada, 396 days away from Daran V. The vessel had veered off course and was about to impact Daran V, killing all of the planet's population and the vessel's population. Fortunately, the Yonada's course was altered away from Daran V by the actions of the crew of the Enterprise. (TOS: "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky")

The novel Ex Machina reveals that Daran V was home to a pterodactyl-like race called the Shesshran (β). They had silver skin, a long sharp beak, bat-like wings and a saurian tail. The Shesshran called their home planet Kachissat.
