David Chanel is an actor who played an Angosian senator in the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode "The Hunted". As a background actor he received no credit for his appearance and was identified by the name tag of his costume which was sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1] Chanel also portrayed a command lieutenant in the third season episode "Sarek".

Chanel played a secret service agent in the 1996 blockbuster Independence Day, which also featured Brent Spiner, Bill Smitrovich, Frank Novak, Leland Orser, Mirron E. Willis, Raphael Sbarge, Carlos LaCamara, Tim Kelleher, Jana Marie Hupp, Robert Pine, Bill Thomas Miller, Derek Webster, Randy Oglesby, Anthony Crivello, Frank Welker, Erick Avari, Pam Blackwell, Greg Bronson, Ralph Moratz, and Tracey Walter.

Other acting work includes the television mini series Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls (1981, with Catherine Hicks, David Birney, Jean Simmons, Tricia O'Neil, Janet MacLachlan, Nicholas Guest, and Byron Morrow), two episodes of Chicago Hope (2000, with Kevin Brief, J.D. Cullum, Rosemary Forsyth, Jessica D. Stone, Lisa Chess, Wyatt Knight, and Alan Oppenheimer), the short drama Ariel (2009), and the short comedy Out (2014).
