David Kang is an actor and casting director who appeared as a Relativity officer in the Star Trek: Voyager fifth season episode "Relativity". He received no credit for his appearance but was identified by the call sheets of the episode.
Kang was in the Marine Corps and stationed in Okinawa, Japan until he decided to become an actor following work as a basketball player in a sports drink commercial. He moved to Los Angeles and joined SAG-AFTRA. He was hired by Central Casting to portray a soldier in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998, with Jack Kehler, Richard Riehle, Jeff Imada, Simon Rhee, James Lew, Stephen Blackehart, Greg Bronson, Al Goto, and Richard Libertini). During production, it was also decided to hire him as a military advisor for the film.
Kang later started thhee casting agency Combat Casting and went on to cast and produce music videos, reality television projects, and film productions. He changed the name to David Kang Casting in 2005. As casting director, his company worked on feature films such as World Trade Center (2005), Mr. Woodcock (2005), Balls of Fury (2006), and Rush Hour 3 (2006).
His company worked as casting agency on music videos for artists such as Mariah Carey, Alanis Morrisette, Pink, Tom Odell, P. Diddy, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Flo Rida, Usher, Chris Brown, The Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Ffergie, and Alicia Keys as well as in hundreds of television commercials. Following his work as executive producer on several independent and short projects, Kang created and executive produced the reality show Cast Me (2016-2017). More recently, he worked as executive producer on the comedy Bodied (2017, with Debra Wilson and Yoshio Iizuka and associate produced by Stephane Plancke), the short comedy Illest Rapper Alive (2017), the drama Skin (2018), and the fantasy film Heavenquest: A Pilgrim's Progress (2018).
