David Alexander Kervinen (born 25 August 1961; age 62) is a Visual Effects Illustrator who worked for Composite Image Systems on four seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation and on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine where he worked with Dan Curry. [1]
Kervinen attended the San Jose State University and earned a BS in Broadcasting and in Design & Illustration. He started to work for a local CBS affiliate in 1985 and worked since for CIS Hollywood, Pinnacle Systems, Digital FX, Kodak Cineon (ver. 2.0), Alias | Wavefront, and EFilm.
Among his work as visual effects illustrator in the entertainment industry are the television series Viper, Northern Exposure, and The X-Files and feature films such as the horror film Children of the Corn (1984), the fantasy romance Ghost (1990, starring Whoopi Goldberg), the family movie The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), the fantasy comedy Honey I Blew Up the Kid (1992), the science fiction comedy Coneheads (1993), the action comedy Surf Ninjas (1993), the action comedy Last Action Hero (1993, starring F. Murray Abraham), the action thriller Hard Target (1993), the horror film Man's Best Friend (1993), the adventure Alive (1993), the family comedy The Little Rascals (1994), the short documentary Africa's Elephant Kingdom (1998, narrated by Avery Brooks), and most recently Disney's Planes (2013).
He also worked on the design of Warner Bros. animated logo, the family version with Bugs Bunny and for ABC News, Cox Communication, Discovery Channel, Discovery Pictures, Pacific Wine Partners, WFOR 4 and KTVU 2, and Associated Press. Kervinen worked as architect and designer for Panasas, Dell, Oracle, Landor and the gaming giant Zynga.
