David Messina (born 29 August 1974; age 49) is an Italian comic book artist from Rome. He worked in animation after finishing his art studies, moved on to graphic design, and then managed to break into the comics industry. He has been teaching art at the Scuola Internazionale di Comics in Rome since 2002 and also currently works for IDW Publishing on their various titles, including books in the Angel series, such as "Auld Lang Syne", "Masks", "Old Friends", and "The Curse". Messina has provided extensive artwork for many of IDW's Star Trek releases, ranging from full pencil and ink work to cover art, and including Star Trek: Klingons - Blood Will Tell, Star Trek: Countdown, and at least the first issue of Star Trek: Ongoing. He worked as the artist on the miniseries Star Trek: Nero as well as on the comic adaptation for the 2009 Star Trek film, the latter of which was drawn with the help of frequent collaborator Claudia Balboni. He was the primary artist for the Star Trek Into Darkness prequel Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness. [1]

He did the interior art for the four-issue miniseries The Q Conflict.
