The Dead Sea Scrolls were ancient Human writings dating from about the third through first centuries BC. Discovered in the mid 20th century, the scrolls were among the most significant historical, religious, and linguistic documents in Human history.

In 2257, Captain Christopher Pike likened the significance of the information provided by a mysterious sphere before its death to the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. (DIS: "An Obol for Charon")
