A degree was a unit of measurement for measuring temperatures. It was displayed as the symbol ° followed by the initial letter of the temperature scale, as in, °C.

In 2266, the coolant temperature within the intermix chamber of the USS Enterprise rose to two thousand degrees above maximum as the starship successfully broke free of the tractor beam of an alien pilot vessel. (TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver")
