The Delta Outposts were a series of outposts constructed along the Federation side of the Federation-Klingon border. These outposts were located in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
The locations of Delta Outpost 6 to 11 were labeled on the star chart "Alpha/Beta Quadrant Overview" in the ready room aboard the USS Discovery. A holographic star chart would later show the locations of 3 to 5. (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad", "The War Without, The War Within")
In 2257, during the first Federation-Klingon War, many of these outposts were occupied by the Klingons. (DIS: "The War Without, The War Within")
In 2258, the location of these outposts was labeled on a star chart seen on the main viewscreen of the USS Enterprise. (DIS: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2")
In 2259, the locations of Delta Outpost 4 to 11 were labeled on the map "Stellar Cartography" in the USS Enterprise's briefing room. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds")
This series of outposts was only mentioned in writing.
The name of these outposts came from the source material – the Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 62-63) – used for the series' star charts. In the episodes, only the outposts' designation was mentioned.
