Dolak was a Cardassian gul serving Cardassian Militia 41.

In 2368, Dolak's warship intercepted the USS Enterprise-D in the Demilitarized Zone. He claimed the Enterprise-D was escorting Bajoran terrorists. When the Enterprise-D moved away from the vessel they were escorting, Dolak, and his sister ship, fired on it and destroyed the vessel. The vessel had been under remote control and no lives were lost. Dolak was part of a conspiracy to dupe the Federation into helping Cardassia hunt down Bajoran freedom fighters. He convinced Admiral Kennelly that the Bajorans were attacking Federation territory. (TNG: "Ensign Ro")

Dolak appeared on a "wanted poster" in Odo's security office dating from 2369 through 2372. (DS9: "Vortex", "If Wishes Were Horses", "The Forsaken", "Dramatis Personae", "Duet", "In the Hands of the Prophets", "Sanctuary", "Crossfire")

Dolak was played by actor Frank Collison, who mispronounced "Cardassian" as "Car-DAY-sian" on first reference.
According to the script, Dolak was pronounced as "doh-LACK".
For his appearances on the wanted poster in several episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the production used a make up continuity photo from the make up department.
