Donatu was an inhabited planetary system inside Klingon space in the Beta Quadrant.

This was a single star system consisting of a yellow primary.

This system had at least seven planets, including Donatu V and Donatu VII.

Stellar cartography[]

The Donatu system was located in the same minor quadrant as Sherman's Planet, Deep Space Station K-7, and an unidentified Klingon outpost. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")

During the Klingon War, Donatu, depicted as a Klingon Empire insignia, was included on force movement star charts during the Battle of J'Gal. (SNW: "Under the Cloak of War") In 2258, the system's location was labeled on a star chart seen on the main viewscreen of the USS Enterprise. (DIS: "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2")

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. This system's symbol was a red Klingon Empire insignia, indicating its affiliation with the empire. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Children of the Comet", "Spock Amok")

On stardate 1292.4, the location of this system was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)

The system's location was labeled in a Federation star chart that was in Fleet Admiral Kirsten Clancy's office at Starfleet Headquarters in 2399 and on the bridge of the USS Titan-A in 2401. The Donatu system was in or near to Klingon space. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles"; DIS: "People of Earth"; PIC: "Maps and Legends", "The Next Generation", "Disengage")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.
Further information on this system could be had from the Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 60, 64) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"). The primary of the Donatu system was classified as a G-class star. The Donatu system was identified as a Klingon system in a star chart created by Scribe K'Tark in the Year of Kahless 893 (2266) for the Klingon High Council.
