Douglas "Doug" Wert is the actor who appeared as Lieutenant Commander Jack R. Crusher in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes "Family", "Violations", and "Journey's End".

Wert graduated from the Miami University in Oxford in 1985 and has started his on screen acting and stage acting in the late 80s. In 1995 he played the recurring role of Dr. Rob Daniels in the short lived drama series University Hospital on which James L. Conway served as a producer, writer, and director. Wert played also recurring roles in the soap operas The Young and the Restless and As the World Turns and in the mini series Four Corners in 1998, which also featured the Star Trek actors Timothy Carhart, Spencer Garrett, Eugene Roche, and John Vargas.

Wert has performed guest characters in television series such as Spenser: For Hire (1986, starring Avery Brooks and Carolyn McCormick and guest starring Jude Ciccolella), P.S.I. Luv U (1992), Law & Order (2001 and 2003), Stargate SG-1 (2006, alongside Tony Todd), and Six Degrees (2006, a series produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk).

He has played in films such as By the Sword (1991, starring F. Murray Abraham and with Chris Rydell and Brett Cullen), Dracula Rising (1993), Caroline at Midnight (1994, with Clayton Rohner, Virginia Madsen, Zach Galligan, and Kirk Baily), Roswell (1994, with Bob Gunton, Eugene Roche, John Hostetter, Matthew Faison, Michael Bofshever, David Selburg, Gary Bullock, Don Fischer, Warren Munson, Richard Fancy, Lawrence Dobkin, Parley Baer, Bruce Gray, Brian Cousins, and James G. MacDonald), The Wasp Woman (1995, with Gerrit Graham), The Object of My Affection (1998), Fabled (2002), and Dark Honeymoon (2007).
