The Dove was a Federation starship that operated during the late 24th century.
The ship served as a health spa, offering numerous amenities for relaxation such as mani-pedis, massages, playpens with puppies, kittens, and/or bunnies, mud baths with mud imported from the healing bogs of Tellar Prime, a sand garden, and a combat training room for the aggressively inclined. Guests were given wristbands that constantly measured their tension levels, allowing spa personnel to tailor their treatments accordingly.
In 2381, Captain Carol Freeman gave a mandatory vacation on the Dove to the USS Cerritos engineering staff, who were stressed from dealing with their ship being partially transformed into a temple by a D'Arsay archive. However, the engineers evaded their treatments in order to keep working, which provoked Freeman into an episode that revealed she herself had been repressing months of incredible stress. With Freeman not responding to the Dove's therapeutic services, the ship's commander Toz threatened to send her to Earth for a full medical diagnostic.
Regretting that they had contributed to Freeman's problem by not making a proper effort to relax, Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups led his personnel to engineer a novel solution: dismantling one of the Dove's turbolifts to construct a machine that directly removed stress. Though the device successfully treated Freeman, Toz subsequently ordered it jettisoned into space as it would render her vocation obsolete. (LD: "Room for Growth")
