Duranite was a material used in the construction of biobeds used aboard United Earth Starfleet starships in the 2150s.
In 2154, when modifying a biobed, Charles Tucker III suggested to T'Pol that she should remove the duranite caps for better sticking things together. For reasons unknown to Tucker, the things worked better without the caps. (ENT: "The Aenar")
The Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 224 provided clarity on the "things". The "things" were relay modules in medical equipment such as the biobeds. This term was not used in the episode; it might have come from an unused scene or an earlier draft of the script.
