Ebenezer Scrooge was the main character in the 19th century novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
In 2367, Data played the role of Scrooge on the holodeck in an attempt to to study method acting. He hoped to discover emotions of his own by recreating them in performance through this technique.
