Control arm and igniter display

An emergency evacuation thruster pack was a type of thruster pack attachment to an environmental suit that allowed for a single high-yield thruster burst.

In the 2270s, Commander Spock stole a thruster suit and emergency evacuation thruster pack from the USS Enterprise during its mission to learn more about V'ger. The onboard computer warned that once the igniter was armed and fired, the thrusters would burn for ten seconds. He used the pack's single high-yield thruster burst to propel him through an aperture to V'ger's inner workings, before disconnecting from the pack. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

In the 24th century, Starfleet emergency thruster packs used quaratum as a fuel source, for which the USS Enterprise had several barrels of quaratum on board in 2368. (TNG: "Disaster")
