Born Eveline Halpern to Russian immigrants, she began acting professionally in 1941 at the Provincetown Playhouse in NYC, before her career took her from stage to film and television, working in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Canada, and Tokyo over the next seventy years. [3] Her earliest screen appearance was on Adventures of Superman (1953; with Leonard Mudie); the same year she married Edwin Brenner, with whom she had two children. Despite divorcing Brenner in 1974, she retained her married name throughout her acting career for the next half century.

Brenner has over eighty film and television appearances in her career, included among scores other others, she appeared in Murder in the First (1995, with Christian Slater, Brad Dourif, Ben Slack, Mia Kirshner, Time Winters, and Stefan Gierasch), and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1995, with Chad Allen, Barbara Babcock, Frank Collison, Joe Lando, and Hélène Udy).

Outside of being a professional actress, Brenner is a licensed speech pathologist (MA), voice and dialect coach, and is fluent in Yiddish. [4]

Following the death of John Copage, she is the oldest living Star Trek performer.
