""...extremists often have a logic all their own.""
Tallera, 2370 ("Gambit, Part II")

An extremist, radical, fanatic, or zealot was someone who was extremely devoted to a cause, often but not exclusively to the point of committing criminal acts.

In 2154, Stel described Syrran, leader of the dissident Syrrannites, as having become a dangerous zealot over the past year. (ENT: "The Forge")

In 2259, Christopher Pike described the Shepherds as being "zealot-like". (SNW: "Children of the Comet")

In 2293, James T. Kirk compared his approach to a problem to that of Spock; "You're a great one for logic. I'm a great one for rushing in where angels fear to tread. We're both extremists", acknowledging that "Reality is probably somewhere in between us." (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

Senator Pardek was reportedly considered a radical by Romulan leaders for his advocation of peace. (TNG: "Unification I")

In 2380 and 2381, Klingon extremist Captain Dorg manipulated the Pakleds into a conflict with the Federation in order to destabilize it and expand the Klingon Empire's power. Shortly after Dorg's death, Captain Carol Freeman was accused of conspiring with Klingon extremists to destroy Pakled Planet. However, an investigation uncovered that the true culprit was the Pakleds themselves. (LD: "wej Duj", "First First Contact", "Grounded")
