A farmer was an individual who cultivated land on a farm and reaped its organic products, usually for sustenance.

According to the story of the girl who made the stars, Humans in Africa farmed as early as 100,000 years ago, but had trouble with the practice because they always farmed in the same place. (ST: "The Girl Who Made the Stars")

Jack Hayes was a farmer from Ohio in 1937. His farm truck was a 1936 Ford truck. He grew alfalfa and had cattle. (VOY: "The 37's")
