Faucet, 2265

A cup under a faucet on the USS Enterprise

Constitution-class (alternate reality) sink

A sink and faucet on the alternate reality USS Enterprise

A faucet, or tap, was a valve that controlled the flow of a liquid or gas.

When Gary Mitchell came in contact with the strange energies of the galactic barrier in 2265, he began to display a widening array of psychic abilities, including telekinesis. He displayed this for the first time when he was able to move a cup under a water faucet in sickbay aboard the USS Enterprise, and after it had filled, he directed it to himself in bed. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before")

In the alternate reality, a metallic sink featuring one faucet could be found in the captain's quarters on board Constitution-class ships. Captain James T. Kirk used a sink with a faucet in his quarters aboard the USS Enterprise in 2263. (Star Trek Beyond)
