The Aksani were a warp-capable race native to the Delta Quadrant. They resided in a region of space also occupied by the Antarians, the Chessu, and others.
In 2377, the Aksani participated in the inaugural run of the Antarian Trans-stellar Rally. The Aksani threatened to withdraw unless they were allowed to host the post-race ceremony, which had already been promised to the Chessu by Ambassador O'Zaal. Captain Kathryn Janeway proposed instead that the festivities be held aboard the USS Voyager, as a neutral ground to all parties. (VOY: "Drive")

According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 94), there was a star system named Aksani, which might possibly be the system of origin for this species, in the quadrant. This was a quaternary star system with two F-class stars and two M-class stars.
