Paramount Park Murcia was a proposed theme park in Alhama de Murcia, Spain, that would have featured a permanent Star Trek-themed "Plaza Futura" attraction including 3D "Warp Speed Coaster", a Starfleet Recruiting Center ride, and Starfleet Commissary restaurant. First announced in 2010, the park would have opened in late 2015. The project was deemed officially dead by the city the park was planned for in 2018. [1]

Based on a different model than the Paramount Parks that operated from 1994 to 2006, Paramount was closely involved but Proyectos Emblematicos Murcianos SA (PREMURSA) was licensed to build and manage development. The Star Trek portion of the park would have been based primarily on the style of the alternate reality films. [2]

Local news had reported on 13 March 2012 that the developer had completed the deal to purchase the land for the park for €10.3 million. [3](X)

StarTrek.com published a "first look" of the park with concept art on 18 February 2014. [4]

The 3D "Warp Speed Coaster" had been announced to reach 100 kph, featuring multiple loops and a trip into a wormhole (underground.) Star Trek Magazine noted in April 2014 that the proximity to nearby convention facilities would have made the location ideal for international Star Trek conventions. (Star Trek Magazine issue 176, p. 6)

Although ground had been broken on the park, a court determination that part of the land was in a protected area resulted in delays. This combined with the 18 December 2015 death of Jesús Samper, who was helping push to get the park opened, resulted in an inability to attract necessary investments in the project. [5]
