The Alliance
The Alliance was an alliance of starship crews led by the USS Voyager.
During Voyager's flight home, in 2377, it became trapped in an anomaly called "the Void," where all resources were nonexistent, and piracy sustained everyone there.
In an effort to combine resources and hopefully escape "the Void," Captain Kathryn Janeway formed this alliance, which was based on the same principles as the Federation, though not all trapped species joined.
The first to join the Alliance were the Nygeans and the Overlookers, and later an unidentified species, the Jelinians, Kraylor and Bosaal's species; the latter three later opted to leave the Alliance, due to a disagreement with Janeway.
By combining their efforts and technology to create a polaron modulator, and with some additional help from the natives of "the Void," the Alliance's four ships – Voyager, a Nygean starship, a Hierarchy survey vessel, and a unidentified vessel – succeeded in escaping. (VOY: "The Void")
