The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F) was an Odyssey-class Federation starship operated by Starfleet in the 25th century. It was the seventh vessel to bear the name Enterprise. On her final mission in 2401, she was under command of Fleet Admiral Elizabeth Shelby.

The Enterprise-F was a contemporary of USS Voyager-B. In 2401, the ship was slated for early decommissioning around the same time as the terrorist attack in District Seven on M'talas Prime. (PIC: "The Next Generation")

The Enterprise-F was implicated in Commander Ro Laren's undercover research as being compromised by a suspected Changeling plot to infiltrate Starfleet. As it was included in the secret data files hidden on her Bajoran earring, she managed to get to Admiral Jean-Luc Picard shortly before her death. (PIC: "Imposters")

During the events of Frontier Day in 2401, the vessel was under the command of Admiral Elizabeth Shelby. Shortly after departing Sol Station, she and her crew were partially assimilated by the Borg Collective, and Shelby was killed. Enterprise-F was forced to partake in the attack on Sol Station, and was preparing to target Earth's cities when the Borg were ultimately defeated by the crew of the Enterprise-D. (PIC: "Võx")

Following the destruction of the Borg, the Enterprise-F and the rest of the surviving fleet were released from assimilation. The ship was eventually decommissioned as planned and it was replaced in 2402 by the USS Enterprise-G. (PIC: "The Last Generation")

…USS Enterprise NCC-1701-F, Odyssey-class…

According to the Star Trek: Picard Logs, the Enterprise-F was an Odyssey-class starship, [1] but it was only after the airing of the third season episode "Võx" that Star Trek: Picard Production Designer Dave Blass confirmed that particular piece of information. [2]

The Enterprise-F made its first on-screen appearance in "The Next Generation", where it was shown as a screen graphic during a computer search for upcoming events made by Raffaela Musiker on La Sirena, shortly before the terrorist attack on M'talas Prime. Several third season trailers released prior to the season premiere had already shown the Enterprise in flight during a ceremony, which turned out to be the 250th Frontier Day (2401) in the series' penultimate episode, "Võx".

The same computer graphic was used for Ro Laren's hidden files in "Imposters", albeit mirrored.

According to Terry Matalas during a Reddit AMA ("Ask Me Anything"), Shelby was the ceremonial CO of the Enterprise-F and that her permanent captain for the television version was probably a different version of the Star Trek Online (contemporary) in-game captain, Va'Kel Shon (β) (see: below). [3]

Apocrypha[]

USS Enterprise-F MSD

The Star Trek: Picard Logs had it stated that the Enterprise-F was launched in 2386, and had been commanded by several captains over the course of her fifteen years in service. The ship's critical systems were severely compromised during the Monfette Gambit (β), a rescue effort for Raillian refugees on Fenton IV (β). It was therefore that the Enterprise-F was scheduled for an early decommission. [4]

The Odyssey-class USS Enterprise-F (β) is featured in Star Trek Online (in which the ship had originally been introduced in the first place, already in 2012) as the new Federation flagship and was by 2409 commanded by the aforementioned Andorian Captain Va'Kel Shon. She is first encountered by the player in 2409, defending Deep Space 9 from a Jem'Hadar attack. In the Online universe, the ship was refitted in 2410 into a Yorktown-[sub]class (β) vessel after having sustained further critical damage during a later conflict.

On its September spread of the 2022 Ships of the Line calendar, the (refit-)USS Enterprise-F is seen defending Deep Space 9 again, against the Hur'q this time – or rather against their servants, the Drantzuli (β), as was established in Star Trek Online.

According to the novel Imzadi, an Enterprise-F commanded by Data in 2408 during an alternate future was encountered by the crew of the Enterprise-D.

In the alternate timeline from the DS9 book trilogy Millennium, following the destruction of the USS Enterprise-E, Starfleet launched the Enterprise-class (β) USS Enterprise-F (β), which Thomas Riker described as being like the USS Defiant to the tenth power. The ship was originally commanded by Jean-Luc Picard, but was given over to William T. Riker after Picard's promotion to admiral. Among Riker's crew were Geordi La Forge, Deanna Troi, Tom Paris, and B'Elanna Torres. The Enterprise-F was lost with all hands in a horrific battle that saw the destruction of Earth. This timeline was aborted thanks to the efforts of Benjamin Sisko and the rest of Deep Space 9's crew.
