Footwear referred to types of clothing worn on the humanoid body part, the foot. The most common form of footwear were known as shoes or boots, indeed, following the assassination of Klingon Chancellor Gorkon, Spock spoke of the assassins gravity boots that were being sought as being "incriminating footwear." Historically, the practice of making various footwear was a role performed by a cobbler or sandal maker. (DS9: "Improbable Cause"; VOY: "False Profits")
