Background information

• The documentary was referenced in the ninth-season episode of The Big Bang Theory, "The Spock Resonance", when Adam Nimoy, accompanied by Wil Wheaton, meets with Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) to ask him what Spock meant to him. Cooper tells Nimoy that he was won over by the episode "The Galileo Seven".
• Released one year after the Big Bang episode, the documentary reciprocally had a scene included of the episode as one of the opening scenes.
• James Frain prepared for his portrayal of Sarek in Star Trek: Discovery by watching For the Love of Spock. [1]
