Forrester-Trent Syndrome was a rare degenerative neurological disorder. The disease caused tremor on hands and could also cause severe seizures. If untreated, the disease could result in paralysis or death.

Forrester-Trent was a genetic disease and was usually inherited from the parents. However, some cases had been reported in which the disease was caused by a random mutation.

The gene causing the disease appears to be dominant, as only one of the parents must carry it.

In 2370, neuro-stabilization regimen was the treatment used by Starfleet doctors. The treatment was not 100% reliable, but in most cases the patients responded to treatment well. In many cases the effects of the disease could even be reversed.

According to Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, the syndrome derived its name from "The Battle" scriptwriter Larry Forrester and from the lead vocalist of the rock band Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor. (citation needededit)
