I think this is a very, very bad idea. Why would we allow fan fiction, "personal stories" (ie, "Today, I...") and reviews here? This is an encyclopedia, not a social networking site. The very first paragraph says "they are not intended to be a collaboratively written pieces of content". Ignoring the grammatical errors; then, quite frankly, they have no place here. If people want to rail against Star Trek, post their thoughts on Star Trek: Destiny, or catalogue the wacky adventures of the USS Gorgonzola, they can go to Memory Gamma, TrekBBS, Wordpress, LiveJournal and any one of dozens of other sites. This does not fall into our mandate, and does not serve a purpose in advancing the encyclopedia. Nor do avatars. We have a policy of "no personal images", and, since I assume uploading these avatars puts them in our image list, this would go directly against that policy. -- Michael Warren | Talk 15:14, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I agree. I wanted to raise awareness of this before it was enabled on MA. From what it says on the Wikia page on this new feature, we need to request it to not be enabled here, or it will be. -- Renegade54 15:53, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
I totally agree - coincidentally, just yesterday I stumbled across a blog entry on MA/de (this feature apparently has been available for quite some time there), where the blogger made known his total dislike for the new movie, calling reimaginings in general "shit", and to which another contributor added a comment calling Abrams an "idiot who is about to ruin everything". To each his own, of course, but I don't think that we want to be a platform for that sort of stuff - at the very least, I don't want to spend much time policing that, and would rather delete complete blog entries outright and without mercy. -- Cid Highwind 17:47, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. I mentioned this with Shran as well and he is in agreement as well. — Morder (talk) 19:33, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
I also agree. We're not the place for that kind of activity. Has such a request(to disable it) been put in yet?--31dot 20:26, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Full agreement here. German MA - meh! --Jörg 20:31, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
I've asked - so we'll see. I've also directed them here. — Morder (talk) 20:32, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, Sannse has disabled it for us :) — Morder (talk) 20:41, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
