My wife thinks that the Harry Potter series has outsold all Star Trek novels (include spinoffs). I thought this would be an easy argument to win, but I now realize that nobody has a clue about the amount of money spent on Star Trek books. My local reference librarian said that the three publishers who have sold these books (Bantam Dell Books, Divisions of Random House, Inc., and PocketBooks) refuse to share any of their sales figures. I'm guessing this is a lost cause, but I'm hoping somebody out there might have a helpful suggestion. Thanks. 70.129.197.15 20:19, June 9, 2011 (UTC)John Brewer, 06/09/2011:03:18:PM

Your best bet would be to figure out how many Star Trek novels there are, and then divide that by the total number of HP books sold. If the resulting number of "sold" copies per ST book seems unreasonable to be true, it probably is. - Archduk3 20:55, June 9, 2011 (UTC)
