You may have noticed that last year, Memory Alpha chose to update our logo to include the full pride flag colours, specifically using the colours from the new Progress Pride Flag. We have kept this logo throughout the year, doing our best to work towards being as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
As you likely know, Star Trek has been a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusivity since its opening episodes, showing women and people of colour in positions of power and influence when that was uncommon on television of the 1960s, through to presenting non-binary and transgender characters in the recent (and getting ready to air its final season) Star Trek: Discovery series.
While Star Trek (and Memory Alpha) have made missteps through the years in terms of use of language or presentation, both the franchise and our community here strive to continue to do better and to be the best that we can be.
As one step to that end, Memory Alpha has chosen to keep the logo using the Progress Pride colours as part of our permanent logo, with the knowledge and understanding that many of our community identify with these colours and we want to ensure that our community continues to be as welcomed as possible and reflects the bigger reality out there... whether it involve Ferengi or not.
We thank you all for standing with us on working to be as diversive, equitable, and inclusive as we can Humanly be, and helping us to be the best that we can possibly be.
