The Galileo was a Federation Type 6 shuttlecraft that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century, attached to the USS Enterprise-D. It was shuttle 07.
In 2364, Captain Jean-Luc Picard flew to the Enterprise-D aboard the Galileo, piloted by Lieutenant Natasha Yar, after he assumed command of the ship. (TNG: "All Good Things...")
The name Galileo was a homage by the writers to the shuttlecraft from Star Trek: The Original Series, which was in turn named after Galileo Galilei. (Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 293)
