A gargoyle was a Cardassian decorative object, carved in the shape of a Cardassian person and/or animal, often found on bedposts.

In 2369, while visiting Deep Space 9, the Arbazan ambassador Taxco expressed her distaste at having to sleep another night on a Cardassian bed "with those gargoyles staring from the woodpoles." (DS9: "The Forsaken")

Akaali gargoyle

An Akaali "gargoyle"

Since "Gargoyle" is an Earth term, Taxco likely referred to the figures as gargoyles due to the resemblance they bore with the medieval figures.
Statues seen in the curio shop of Garos on the Akaali homeworld in the Star Trek: Enterprise first season episode "Civilization" bear a striking resemblance to gargoyles. Three of them were later sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1]
