Ensign Gary was a Human who served as a Starfleet junior officer on the USS Cerritos in the late 24th century.

In 2381, Gary was assigned to assist Commander Jack Ransom and Lieutenant jg Beckett Mariner in retrieving two Humans accidentally put on display in Narj's Miraculous Menagerarium. As this was Gary's first away mission, Ransom asked Mariner to "take him under [her] wing." Beckett, under the mistaken impression that Ransom wanted to undermine her, proceeded to behave in an exceptionally unprofessional and insubordinate manner, prompting a confused Gary to ask if she and Ransom were amid a breakup.

Beckett and Ransom eventually resolved their misunderstanding, but Gary was frustrated that their bickering had distracted from the deadly threat of an escaped moopsy. Gary panicked after they trapped the moopsy in what turned out to be the main control room, and the animal unwittingly sent the menagerie falling out of orbit. Ransom then realized that the moopsy could be lured away with teeth, and ordered Beckett to punch his out of his mouth; as she did so, Gary lamented that he should have become an outpost scientist.

While Beckett dealt with the moopsy, Ransom and Gary successfully stabilized the space station's orbit. Gary began commenting on how Humans had an undeserved reputation for being dangerous, only to be disappointed when Beckett discovered that the Humans they had been sent to retrieve had in fact released the moopsy in a bid to usurp ownership of the menagerie. Later, Gary was among those telepathically affected by T'Lyn's emotional turmoil, causing him to fight Livik in the ship's bar. (LD: "Empathological Fallacies")

Gary was voiced by Chris Perfetti in "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee".
