The glavin was a type of weapon used for ritual hand-to-hand combat by the Ligonians. It was a large glove with a recurved claw at the end, and covered with dozens of spines tipped with poison. Lieutenant Natasha Yar used a glavin when she fought Yareena in 2364. Yareena died when she was grazed by one of the spines, but was later revived aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Code of Honor")
Lieutenant Worf later kept one in his quarters, along with various other weapons. (TNG: "Peak Performance", "Reunion", "Redemption", "Cost of Living", "A Fistful of Datas", "Starship Mine")
The Klingon Duras sisters Lursa and B'Etor also kept such a glavin in their family home on Qo'noS. (TNG: "Redemption")
A glavin was also among the items Ensign Beckett Mariner brought back from shore leave on Douglas Station in 2380. (LD: "Second Contact")
