A glove was a piece of clothing covering the whole hand.

Gloves were standard for the environmental suits and for the arctic variant of the 22nd century Starfleet uniform. (ENT: "Breaking the Ice", "Regeneration") The Andorian uniform was also equipped with gloves. (ENT: "The Andorian Incident")

When Leonard McCoy encountered Alice on the Shore Leave Planet in 2267, she asked him whether he had seen a rather large white Rabbit with a yellow waistcoat and white gloves. (TOS: "Shore Leave")

A glove was used in conjunction with a gavel by Klingon judges. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country; ENT: "Judgment")

Black gloves were part of the Krenim uniform. Annorax removed his gloves when having dinner. (VOY: "Year of Hell", "Year of Hell, Part II")

Gavel sketch

The sketch by Nilo Rodis

In the script for Star Trek VI, the judges' gavel glove in that film was described as "a grotesque mailed glove." [1]

A concept drawing of the Star Trek VI gavel glove was created by Nilo Rodis-Jamero. (The Art of Star Trek, p. 267) The glove was made out of molded fiberglass, weighed about ten pounds, and could actually be worn as a massive glove. ("Penny's Toy Box", Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Special Edition) special features) Since the actor playing the Klingon judge (Robert Easton) had arthritis, the glove had to be customized for the performer by making it softer to wear. Greg Jein remarked, "We had to hollow half of it out and pad it up." (The Making of the Trek Films, 3rd ed., p. 128)

For the gavel glove in Enterprise, the production team obtained the same model as was used in Star Trek VI, then made a cast from it. ("Judgment" podcast/audio commentary)
