Golden Brooks (born 1 December 1970; age 50) portrayed Alicia Travers in the Star Trek: Enterprise fourth season episodes "Storm Front" and "Storm Front, Part II". She is best known for her role as Maya Wilkes on another UPN series, Girlfriends, which ended in 2008 after eight seasons.

Born in San Francisco, California, Brooks earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of California in Berkeley, where she minored in Theater. She went on to earn a Master's Degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York. She is also classically trained as a dancer and has studied and taught ballet, jazz, and modern dance.

Before she began starring on Girlfriends in 2000, Brooks was a regular on the Showtime series Linc's from 1998 through 2000. In the latter year, she starred in the film Timecode opposite Deep Space Nine guest actor Steven Weber. The following year, she appeared in the science fiction film Impostor, along with Brian Brophy, Rosalind Chao, Maury Sterling, Tracey Walter, and Clarence Williams III. More recent films include 2005's Beauty Shop and 2006's Something New – both of which co-starred Star Trek: First Contact actress Alfre Woodard.

She has also made guest appearances on The Parkers, The Jamie Foxx Show, and Moesha (appearing as her Girlfriends character Maya Wilkes on the latter). In addition to acting, Brooks tried her hand at both writing and directing on Girlfriends: she directed the 2006 episode "Hustle & Dough" and wrote 2007's "Snap Back".

In 2004, Brooks won a BET (Black Entertainment Television) Comedy Award as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on Girlfriends. She was also nominated for two Image Awards as Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for Girlfriends, one in 2003 and another in 2008. In 2005, the Black Reel Awards nominated Brooks as Best Actress in an Independent Film for her performance in 2004's Motives.
