A sand pea
The Gramilian sand pea was an edible seed that inhibited the salivary glands and desiccated the tongue, causing an immediate but subtle thirst. At Pel's suggestion, Quark started serving them as a snack in his bar in 2370 to make his customers buy more drinks. (DS9: "Rules of Acquisition")
Gramilian sand peas could also be eaten with yamok sauce. (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior")
Jake Sisko and Nog would often toss Gramilian sand peas down from the second level of the Promenade, much to Odo's annoyance. (DS9: "Shattered Mirror")
