Alternate Reality
(split 2233)

Grande Valse was a 20th century Earth musical composition.

In the alternate reality 2240s, a Corvette owned by James T. Kirk's stepfather had a Nokia mobile phone with its ringtone set to Grande Valse. (Star Trek)

This piece of music was identified by the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 314). According to this reference work, the author of this composition was Francisco Tárrega in the early 20th century and was first used as a ringtone for Nokia phones in the late 20th century. Furthermore, the ringtone was a "callback to J.J. Abrams's television series, Alias, in which the sound was often heard on the phone of Sydney Bristow, the show's heroine."
