Doctor Gyud was a Lutani scientist who lived in the mid-23rd century. She worked on the Metamorphosis Program, which aimed to convert a Jikaru into a weapon for their war against Kasar, but eventually came to believe that doing so was a "terrible, awful mistake".
In 2261, Gyud took a Lutani scout ship in an attempt to stop the Jikaru from being deployed. She fired on the Jikaru, provoking it into releasing a massive radiation burst that disabled her ship. Suffering from severe radiation poisoning, Gyud was beamed to the USS Enterprise, where she warned Starfleet not to allow her people to use the Jikaru before succumbing to her injuries.
