Hannah Spear (born 14 January 1991; age 33) is an actress and comedian who played three roles, among them two Kelpiens, in Star Trek: Short Treks, Star Trek: Discovery, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Residing in Toronto, Ontario, Spear has appeared in several, mostly Canadian, television and movie productions. In 2010-12, she starred in the YouTube comedy series Sexy Nerd Girl as the comedic character Valerie Lapomme, which was followed by another online series, Versus Valerie in 2014. In 2020, she co-starred in New Eden, alongside Tara Nicodemo and Atticus Mitchell.
She also co-starred in the 2015 Hallmark original TV movie Christmas Incorporated and Canadian Strain (2019, with Nelu Handa). She had a supporting role in Filth City (2017) and I Used to Be Funny (2023, with Daniel Woodrow). She wrote the screenplay for and acted in the 2019 short film 90/91.
Besides her Star Trek work, she also appeared in guest roles on series such as Standard Action, The Amazing Gayl Pile (with Shawn Ahmed), Save Me, and TallBoyz.
Spear is also a successful stage comedian, who performs mostly improvisational comedy in the Toronto comedy scene. She described her comedy style as "Meryl Streep meets Inspector Clouseau". [1]
