The term Hawaiian referred to anything originating from Earth's Hawaiian Islands, including its people, the Hawaiian language and Hawaiian shirts.
The Hawaiianers
A group of officers aboard the USS Cerritos, lead by Jack Ransom, who all claimed to be Hawaiian were collectively known as the "Hawaiianers". Those lead by Ransom were not in fact from Hawaii, and only made that claim in order to rub shoulders with the commander. Ransom, himself, admitted that he wasn't actually from Hawaii either, and that he only claimed to be because, while as an ensign, his former commanding officer was Hawaiian. (LD: "wej Duj")
