Hero worship was the excessive admiration of someone.
After time traveling to 2063 shortly before Human-Vulcan First Contact was to take place, 24th century officers of the USS Enterprise-E met warp drive inventor Zefram Cochrane in Bozeman, Montana. They bestowed high esteem upon the eccentric scientist and repeatedly asked to shake his hand. Geordi La Forge revealed that Cochrane would eventually have his own statue at the missile complex site where the Phoenix would launch from. Overwhelmed, Cochrane attempted to flee into the woods but was chased by La Forge and Commander William T. Riker and stunned. (Star Trek: First Contact)
