"And for my next violation, I intend to steal something. Something very big! I must have your starship."

A hijacking was a terrorist act in which an armed group forcibly seized control of an unsuspecting vessel. Spacejacking was a less common variant of this word and referred to the hijacking of a spacecraft.

Sometime before 2364, at an unspecified time, the USS Muleskinner was spacejacked. The location of this illegal seizure was labeled on a star chart. (TNG: "The Naked Now")

In 2153, during its search for the Xindi weapon, Enterprise NX-01 was hijacked by Triannon fundamentalists who wished to use the ship's advanced weaponry to end the religious war which had already devastated their homeworld. (ENT: "Chosen Realm")

In 2259, Lieutenant Spock hijacked the USS Enterprise with the aid of its crew and a bored Commander Pelia to go to Cajitar IV upon discovering a distress signal from La'an Noonien-Singh, who discovered a conspiracy to reignite the Federation-Klingon War. Admiral Robert April decided the bloodwine hangover Spock received as part of the peace process was enough punishment but vowed to take his commission if he ever pulled that stunt again. (SNW: "The Broken Circle")

In 2267, Khan Noonien Singh, along with his augment followers from the SS Botany Bay, attempted to hijack the USS Enterprise to find a Federation colony in which to conquer. After their failure and subsequent exile to Ceti Alpha V, they later successfully hijacked the USS Reliant in 2285. (TOS: "Space Seed"; Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

In 2267, the Enterprise was again hijacked, this time from an extra-galactic invasion force of Kelvans from the Andromeda Galaxy. They intended to return to their home galaxy with the Enterprise to inform the Kelvan Empire that the Milky Way Galaxy could be conquered by them. They were subsequently convinced by Captain James T. Kirk that they could colonize in the Milky Way Galaxy, rather than conquer, and elected to remain to start their own colony. Control of the Enterprise was soon returned to Kirk by their leader, Rojan. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")

In 2268, while surrounded by three Romulan D7 vessels, Kirk and First Officer Spock both correctly speculated that the Romulans would make an attempt to seize control of the Enterprise after the ship had violated the Romulan Neutral Zone and entered Romulan space. Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott threatened to destroy the Enterprise if the Romulans made any attempt to hijack the ship. (TOS: "The Enterprise Incident")

In 2285, Kirk and his crew hijacked the Enterprise from Spacedock One to rescue Spock and the survivors of the USS Grissom who were marooned on the surface of Genesis fallowing the Battle of Genesis where the Grissom was destroyed in an attack. Fallowing a hostage taking on the surface where David Marcus was killed, a Klingon boarding party, lead by Torg, attempted to hijack the Enterprise, under the orders of Lord Kruge. However, the starship had been surreptitiously set for auto-destruct by Admiral Kirk prior to him and his bridge crew abandoning the ship. The resulting explosion destroyed the Enterprise, along with the boarding party, preventing it from falling into enemy hands. Kirk and his crew later hijacked Kruge's Bird-of-Prey and used it to return Spock's body to Mount Seleya on Vulcan. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock)

In 2287, Sybok and the Galactic Army of Light successfully hijacked the USS Enterprise-A and used it to breach the Great Barrier to find the planet Sha Ka Ree, where Sybok believed he would find God. After breaching the barrier, Sybok returned command of the Enterprise back to Captain Kirk, believing that Kirk wouldn't pass up the chance to explore the planet. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

In 2364, the Bynars tricked the crew of the USS Enterprise-D into an emergency evacuation while docked at Starbase 74 by faking a collapse of the anti-matter containment system. With the crew off the ship, the Bynars took the Enterprise to their homeworld, Bynaus, where they used the main computer to store the information from the main computer on their world to prevent it from being damaged from an electromagnetic pulse from a nearby supernova. Thanks to the efforts of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Commander William T. Riker, the Bynars' plan worked, their world was saved, they returned control of the Enterprise to Picard and returned to Starbase 74 to face a hearing for their actions. (TNG: "11001001")

In 2367, under hidden orders by his creator Noonien Soong, Lieutenant Data took control of the Enterprise-D, deviating it from its original course from Starbase 416 to Terlina III, unwittingly threatening the life of a young boy named Willie Potts who needed medical attention at the Starbase. As Data's brother Lore also arrived in a ship of his own and wearing Pakled clothing, it can be assumed he also hijacked the ship. Once he was fully free of Soong's programming, Data was able to undo the damage he had been forced to do and the Enterprise reached the Starbase in time. (TNG: "Brothers")

In 2368, Ux-Mal criminals possessed the bodies of Counselor Deanna Troi, Lieutenant Commander Data and Chief Miles O'Brien, who attempted to take control of the Enterprise-D. When Commander Riker locked out the bridge control functions, they attempted to make their way to main engineering to seize control of the vessel from there. However, Riker re-enabled the bridge controls before they could carry out their plan. (TNG: "Power Play")

In 2369, Ferengi pirate DaiMon Lurin hijacked the USS Enterprise-D using two Klingon B'rels he stole from a junkyard and fitted them with cloaking devices and weapons. Lurin and his men disabled the Enterprise and beamed everyone off to work as slaves on Ligos VII in their illegal dilithium mine. Lurin's hijacking was thwarted because Commander Riker locked out the computer and transferred control to Captain Picard who operated from a terminal in one of the school rooms. Captain Picard, Guinan, Ensign Ro Laren, and Keiko O'Brien (all of whom were transformed into kids by a transporter accident) lead a revolt with Alexander Rozhenko and managed to retake the ship with Riker's help and shut down Lurin's operation. (TNG: "Rascals")

Also that same year a group of mercenaries boarded the Enterprise while is was powered down for a baryon sweep and attempted to steal trilithium resin from the warp core to be used in the production of a bomb with the intent to sell it to either the Maquis or Kohn-Ma terrorist. Captain Picard thwarted this plan and destroyed the container preventing it from being sold. (TNG: "Starship Mine")

In 2370, on Stardate 47229.1, the USS Orinoco was hijacked by Fallit Kot who also kidnapped Dax, Ensign Melora Pazlar, and Quark. Ensign Melora managed to disable the vessel by shutting down the gravity generator cutting off artificial gravity allowing her to subdue Kot and place him under arrest. (DS9: "Melora")

On Stardate 47573.1, the USS Rio Grande was hijacked by Alixus and her people and sent on a collision course with the sun, Orellius Minor but the trajectory was off and the vessel ended up in Sector 401 traveling at warp 2 and was spotted by the Romulan vessel Gasko. Kira and Dax then used a Hopi rope trick to disable the vessel using the tractor beam. Once the vessel was back in their hands Kira used the Rio Grande to tow the USS Orinoco back to the Orellius system to rescue Commander Sisko and Chief O'Brien who were stranded on the planet. Once there Alixus was arrested and transported back to DS9 and placed in the brig for her crimes. (DS9: "Paradise")

In 2371, Thomas Riker and the Maquis hijacked the USS Defiant. (DS9: "Defiant")

In 2372, the Kazon-Nistrim hijacked the USS Voyager. (VOY: "Basics, Part I")

In 2374, the Tal Shiar hijacked the USS Prometheus. To get it back The Doctor and the EMH Mark II pumped Neurozine gas into the ships ventilation system incapacitating the Romulans who stole it and allowed The Federation to catch up and retake their vessel. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle")

In 2381, Ensigns Beckett Mariner, Brad Boimler, Sam Rutherford, and D'Vana Tendi hijacked a replica of the Phoenix in order to reach the USS Cerritos in search of evidence to exonerate Captain Carol Freeman for the crime of destroying Pakled Planet. When the attempt seemed to be fruitless, a desperate Mariner attempted to hijack the Cerritos itself, only barely leaving drydock before Rutherford locked her out of the controls and Freeman later reappeared, cleared of all charges. (LD: "Grounded")
