Map of Bajor, 2401

Labeled on a map of Bajor

The Hill Provinces was the name given to a large mountainous area of Bajor.

In 2371, local governments of the Hill Provinces were temporarily suspended and martial law declared by Kai Winn. This was done because of Shakaar Edon's defiant attitude, evidenced by his refusing to return some soil reclamators to the Bajoran Provisional Government, had begun to spread to other provinces. This included the Hill Provinces. (DS9: "Shakaar")

In 2401, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard kept a map of Bajor's major archaeological sites in the study at Château Picard that identified the Hill Provinces and nearby archaeological sites in the region. (PIC: "The Star Gazer")

Background information[]

The "Hill Provinces" were labeled in the northern hemisphere on a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine production map of Bajor that writer Robert Hewitt Wolfe maintained, as well as a map of Bajor derived from it by Geoffrey Mandel for Star Trek: Star Charts ("Hill Prov.") (p. 42) [1](X) Mandel brought the label forward ("Hill", in province font,) for a map of archaeological sites created for Star Trek: Picard. [2]
